Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a therapist is an important decision and it’s natural to have questions before getting started.
Below are answers to some of the questions I am asked most often.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions about therapy
Hopefully this information has answered most of your questions, but here are some of the questions I am asked most often.
How many sessions will I need?
It’s hard to say as each client is individual and their goals and circumstances are unique. There are times when two or three sessions will help a client reach their goal, but I often find between three and six sessions ideal.
What happens during the free consultation?
We will start with a free 30-minute consultation which provides a safe space for you to tell me what has brought you to therapy and ask any questions you may have.
What are your relevant qualifications?
I hold an MA in Education, an FdA in Counselling, a Level 4 Diploma in Hypnotherapy, a Level 5 qualification in Coaching, a PGCE and an FdA in Working with Young People.
Are you committed to continuous professional development?
Yes. I regularly participate in training, undertake further reading and volunteer as a counsellor for two charities.
Are you a member of a professional body?
Yes. I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and subscribe to their codes of ethics.
There are other therapists in the area. Why choose Abigail Homer?
I offer a range of therapies which allows me to combine different approaches where appropriate. Sessions are carefully planned and supported by high-quality resources.
